Driver Spotlight: Lachie N Mineeff #15

Recent achievement: Qualifying P3 at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

This month, we're featuring Lachie, a rising star in the Anglo Race Team and Driving Experience program.

Lachie and the Anglo Team travelled from HQ in Sydney, NSW to Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, VIC for Round 1 of the Australian Formula Ford Championship.

Friday:
Free practice saw Lachie get to grips with track having not driven it since 2022! Improving across all four sessions and feeling comfortable in the car.

Saturday:
Lachie put in a strong performance and despite mixed conditions, he managed to Qualify 3rd in a field of 19 x Drivers!
Race 1 started well however a small mistake dropped him back a few positions. He had good pace throughout the race and finished P7 with some good battles throughout.

Sunday:
Race 2 was abandoned after red flags were shown due to an incident at Turn 10 on the second lap. One of the cars in the leading pack hit the rear of a car in front under braking, sending the Mygale chassis race car into the air and upside down into the gravel trap. A lucky escape and all drivers were ok.
Race 3 Lachie battled from start to finish, bending a front wishbone in the process which took some pace out of the car started, P7 Finished P10. Great learnings for his second ever outing at PI and it will stand him in good stead for the last round of the season, again at PI in October.

💬 Quote: "Racing is my passion. My ultimate goal is to be a racing driver. Motorsport has taught me that it's not easy to achieve your goals however with hard work, dedication and a great team, I can give myself the best opportunity possible. I have some great people in my team thanks to Anglo and my family. All I want to do now is repay them with performance on the track."

What's On In The Workshop

Our team has been hard at work despite a 6 week break in our Driving Experience schedule. Let us know if you’d like to see more behind the scenes and check out some of our previously uploaded videos on YouTube. 👉 Visit YouTube Chanel 👈

Here are just a few of the things we have been working on:

Project 1: Race Car Prep

Two of the Kent Class cars that we use at our Experience Events were race prepared and transported to Winton Raceway for Round 2 of the NSW Formula Ford Championship. Eli Patten in car #10 and Oscar Evans in car #98 both made their racing debuts and secured top 5 finishes showing great speed and ability!

Project 2: Strip, Repair and Re-wrap

One of our Duratec Class cars has been stripped, repaired and re-wrapped in preparation for Ashton ‘AJ” Gealy to make his first appearance at Phillip Island. After stripping the vinyl to reveal bare body work, we identified several panels which required minor repairs to the fiberglass. These areas were filled and sanded prior to being wrapped in new colours and sponsor decals, which will be revealed in next months newsletter.

Project 3: Maintenance Wash

The Anglo Ute was treated to a snow foam and maintenance wash because presentation matters – on and off the track. There were also lots of wheels to be washed on ‘Wheel Wash Wednesday’ in preparation for our upcoming Driving Experience Event at Sydney Motorsport Park.
