What's On In The Workshop

Our team has been hard at work with lots of Interstate Travel for Race Meetings this month. Here are just a few of the things we have been working on:

Project 1: Aerodynamic Overhaul - Engine Cover Redesign

In the pursuit of performance, our team recently embarked on an aerodynamic redesign of the engine cover for our Duratec Class Formula Ford race car.

The Problem:
During recent Race meetings, our engineers identified a recurring issue with straight-line speed. After eliminating mechanical and setup variables, attention turned to aero inefficiencies - specifically, airflow disruption caused by the existing engine cover shape.

The Solution:
A complete fiberglass rework was initiated to smooth airflow across the top of the engine cover and toward the rear, reducing drag and improving overall speed.

Stages of Development:

  1. Initial Preparation – The original cover was stripped and shaped using precision cutting and contour guides. This allowed us to expose problem areas and prep the surface for reconstruction.

  2. Template Installation – Aluminum tabs were fabricated and installed to form the aerodynamic spine that now channels air more effectively.

  3. Fiberglass Layup – New layers of fiberglass were carefully applied using resin rollers to reinforce and refine the central spine of the cover.

  4. Filler & Fairing Work – Once the new shape was glassed in, filler compound was meticulously applied and sanded down to create seamless contours.

  5. Shaping & Sanding – Over multiple stages, the surface was shaped by hand and machine to achieve the desired curvature and airflow profile.

  6. Final Prep & Wrapping – Once aerodynamically sound and structurally rigid, the new surface was prepared for final wrapping.

Why It Matters:
Every improvement, no matter how subtle, can make a big difference when you’re fighting for tenths. This updated cover should not only help reduce drag but also aid cooling during high-speed runs - particularly on fast-flowing tracks like Sydney Motorsport Park where the next Race Meeting will be held.

Project 2: KFC x Anglo Racing Academy - Finger Lickin’ Fast

In an exciting fusion of motorsport and marketing, Anglo Racing Academy was approached by none other than KFC Australia to bring their latest promotional campaign to life with a high-octane twist.

As part of a national competition, one lucky winner was selected to receive a truly unforgettable prize: an F1-Style Driving Experience in a fully KFC-branded Formula Ford race car, followed by adrenaline-fueled hot laps in our world’s first 2-seater Formula Ford.

Custom Branding Meets Track Performance:
To bring KFC’s vision to life, we undertook a full transformation of one of our race cars:

  1. Vehicle Strip-Down - Our Operations Manager, Dan, began the process by carefully removing the existing vehicle wrap to return the car to a raw canvas. Every inch of the car was prepped for its new look — clean, smooth, and ready to pop.

  2. Bespoke Wrap Application - The finishing touches were handled by our signage partner Jeff from B&B Graphics, who applied a vibrant custom-designed KFC livery. The result? A bold and instantly recognisable red-and-white speed machine that turned heads in the paddock and on the track. Check out @b_and_b_graphics on Instagram.

  3. Competition Winner Experience - The lucky winner, Hayden, arrived at Sydney Motorsport Park to find his dream experience waiting: a day of driving an F1-style single-seater in full KFC colours, followed by hot laps as a passenger in our 2-seater race car — with a pro driver pushing the limits

Project 3: AJ’s Car Ready to Hit the Track

You may remember in last month’s newsletter we shared the early stages of a workshop project, the stripping and repair of one of our Duratec Class Formula Ford Race Cars being prepared for Ashton "AJ" Gealy ahead of his debut at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

After removing the existing vinyl wrap, the team got to work assessing the bare bodywork. Several panels showed signs of wear typical from racing - so we took the opportunity to reinforce the integrity of the cars fiberglass shell. These areas were carefully filled, shaped, and sanded back to perfection, ensuring both structural soundness and aerodynamic flow.

Once repairs were complete, it was time for the finishing touch: a striking new livery design, freshly wrapped and detailed with updated sponsor decals to reflect AJ’s upcoming campaign.

The end result? A race-ready machine that looks just as fast standing still as it does flying down the straights. We're incredibly proud of the work our team put into this transformation and excited to support AJ as he embarks on this next chapter in his racing career.

Check out the images below for a full look at the final product and stay tuned to see it in action on race day!

Golden Hour Glow: Adrenaline Content Shoot at Sydney Motorsport Park

On one of the frostiest mornings of the season, the Anglo Team rolled into Sydney Motorsport Park to conduct a rebranding and content shoot with our long-standing partners at Adrenaline. Despite the sub-zero temperatures, the golden sunrise over the fog-drenched track created a picture-perfect backdrop for a session filled with horsepower and high spirits.

As part of the rebranding, Adrenaline's fresh new logos were applied to our iconic Formula Ford race cars ready to star in their new promotional materials. We captured stunning imagery and video showcasing our F1-style race cars in action, all while creating content that reflects the thrilling essence of what Adrenaline and Anglo deliver together.

Whether it was the morning mist rolling off the tyres or the father-daughter duo celebrating on the podium, this session perfectly encapsulated what our Driving Experiences are all about—speed, style, and unforgettable moments.
