š ļø What's On In the Workshop
Itās been full throttle in the workshopĀ as the team balanced double duty in preparation for a huge monthĀ of motorsport.
First up:Ā 6 x race cars andĀ ourĀ 2-Seater were meticulously prepped, loaded, and transported to Sydney Motorsport ParkĀ along with all of our equipment to deliver our F1-Style Driving Experience, where guests pushed themselves and our machines to the limit.
At the same time, the race team was hard at work preparing two Duratec Formula Fords for drivers Lachlan Mineeff and Ashton āAJā Gealy, who competed in Round 3 of the NSW Formula Ford Championship. This involved Friday practice, qualifying, and 3 back-to-back races on Saturday!
From customer experiences to competitive racing, the teamās ability to switch gears and execute both programs with precision shows exactly what the Anglo crew is made of.
Ā
Project 1: Duratec Engine Build
In between event prep, weĀ has also been busy with a Duratec spare engine build. The test fit was successfully completed this week, marking a critical step in expanding our performance and contingency options for the teamās future races.
Ā
Ā
Ā
Ā
The 1600cc Duratec engine used in Formula Ford represents a significant evolution from the earlier Kent powerplant. Featuring a DOHC 16-valve aluminium head, these engines are known for their responsiveness, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
-
Displacement: 1596cc
-
Configuration: Inline-4
-
Induction: Naturally aspirated
-
Max RPM: ~6700ā7000 (regulated)
-
Output: ~140hp
-
Key features: dry sump lubrication, lightweight flywheel, AP racing clutch, Motec ECU, homologated inlet manifold
These engines deliver razor-sharp throttle response and consistent power delivery,Ā perfect for the high-revving, no-aero world of Formula Ford where driver skill truly shines.
With new builds in progress and our current fleet dialed in, weāre more ready than ever to chase results and deliver unforgettable race experiences.
Ā
Project 2: Aero Upgrades Continued...
Following the successful aerodynamic modifications, tested at Sydney Motorsport Park, the team has now applied the same upgrade process to Ashton āAJā Gealyās Duratec-powered Formula Ford.
Ā
Ā
Using the fiberglass mold developed during the initial aero rework, we were able to streamline the process significantly. This mold allowed us to cut and reshape AJās existing engine cover to match the improved aero profile. The mold ensures symmetry and consistency between vehicles.
As shown in the photos above and below:
- šø Image 1 highlights the original cover post-cut
- šø Image 2 & 3 show the fiberglass moldĀ
- šø Image 4 reveals the clean, high-gloss resultĀ
These upgrades arenāt just cosmetic - by refining airflow over the rear of the car, weāre improving stability and performance at speed. Small gains like this can make a real difference over the course of a championship round.
Next steps? Both cars are now fully race-prepped and heading to Round 4Ā of the NSW Formula Ford Championship with our best foot forward.

šø Experience Day Highlights: Friday 18th July
Ā
Each participant climbed into the cockpit of a real, single-seat Formula Ford race car. With guidance from our instructors, they quickly found their rhythm. By the end of the session, drivers were hitting the apex's and, nailing the braking zones, experiencingĀ acceleration unlike anything on the road. These cars don't haveĀ any aerodynamic aids, itās all about precision, weight transfer, and car control. AĀ pure driving experience that rewards skill over speed alone.
Atmosphere in the Pits:
The energy in pit lane was a mix of nerves, excitement, and high-fives. Family and friends gathered trackside with phones in hand, cheering as their drivers flew past the pit wall. Whether it was solo participants pushing personal limits or mates challenging each otherās lap times, there was a strong sense of community.
Two-Seater Hot Laps:
Between driver sessions, our two-seater race car was buzzing with passengers eager to feel the rush of a professional lap at speed. The ride-alongs were a highlight for many,Ā offering a front-row seat to what these cars can really do when pushed to the limit.
Why It's More Than Just a Drive:
Stage 1 is often the start of something bigger. Many drivers leave the day with a newfound respect for motorsport.Ā Some even book straight into Stage 2, keen to build on their technique. Itās about pushing personal limits in a safe, supportive, and seriously fun environment.

āAn absolutely unforgettable day. The cars were insane and the team were professional, helpful and fun. Iāll definitely be back. Highly recommended to any motorsport enthusiast.ā
